The Rich Get Richer...

The San Jose Sharks have become the epitome of the old expression.  They continue to get richer, while the poor teams around them continue to flounder, and lose stars to bigger markets.  This off-season was jus another example of the Sharks putting the boots to some of their division rivals in this regard.  They added Brent Burns, Michal Handzus and swapped Dany Heatley for Martin Havlat, while also picking up former Devils stalwart, Colin White.  They did this with such ease, it was almost painful to watch the Coyotes lose Eric Belanger and Ilya Bryzgalov for nothing in return.  Not only that, but then they had to give up on Stempniak in order to get a center (they currently only have two under contract) in Langkow.  The trouble is, Langkow is recovering from a broken neck.  The Stars are no better off, having had to watch Brad Richards leave for nothing, and resort t signing past-their-prime veterans.  It’s going to be a long season for two of these teams, and potentially a landmark year for the other.
